1952-53 Sol de Oro cards from Venezuela have been known for many years, but 1953-54 Sol de Oro cards were unknown until the past few years. The 1952-53 cards have indivual portraits of Venezuelan League players with solid red backgrounds. The set has 90 cards. The 1953-54 cards have many of the same portraits as the 1952-53 set, but the background more of a light pink, and there are 144 cards in the set. The cards from both years measures 1 7/8" by 2 1/8". There are several Negro Leaguers, including the card in this lot, #126 Quincy Trouppe. Most cards have 3 or 4 known examples, but this is THE ONLY KNOWN EXAMPLE of the Quincy Trouppe card. Trouppe is not featured in the 1952-53 set.
