Highest graded example of 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo #84 Orestes "Minnie" Miñoso. PSA has graded a total of 6 legit examples of this
card, five 1s, and this 2, with none higher. Between PSA and SGC there have been a total of 23 examples graded. ZERO legit examples grade higher than this one.
You have to be careful with Miñoso and 29 other cards from this set.
There were several uncut sheets that have been cut in past couple of
years and many of the cards have been submitted to grading companies.
Anything grading higher than a 2, is almost certainly cut from one of
these sheets and should not have been graded. Not to worry, though,
there is an easy way to tell if a card was cut from a sheet. The backs
on every sheet were super light and barely visible. That's why the
sheets were never cut at the factory and distributed. They were
defective. Every 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo card that is graded higher
than a 2 will have a very light, faded back, and will be one of 30
specific cards. Miñoso is one that can be found cut from a sheet. The
one in this lot is ORIGINAL and authentic and was cut at the factory in
Cuba back in the mid-40s.
As with EVERY PSA card in this auction, if you would like to crack
this one out and send it to SGC, I will pay for the grading fees if it
doesn't get a bump in grade. This is not because SGC is more lenient
than PSA. They are not. But they are more accurate. All you have to do
is send me a scan of the card once it's out of the holder, so I can see
it hasn't been damaged (it can be difficult to crack cards out safely)
and then let me know what grade SGC gave it. If it's not higher than the
PSA grade, grading fees are on me! Offer is good for 60 days after
close of auction.
