John Jordan "Buck" O'Neil is beloved by the baseball community. It was a travesty when he was not elected to the Hall of Fame back in 2006, the last time any Negro Leaguer has been inducted. The entire baseball world was outraged, except for Buck, himself. He handled it with the grace, humility and kindess we'd grown to expect from the great man. It's entirely possibly that he'll finally get his his plaque in Cooperstown when the "Early Baseball" era committee meets in December to vote on players (pre-1950) to be inducted in 2021. It would be so long overdue.

Buck only has two baseball cards from his playing days, both issued during his time in Cuba. They are highly sought after, regardless of his HOF status. 1946-47 Caramelo Deportivo card were issued on thin stock and are extremely condition sensitive as a result. The backs often have paper loss and/or staining. The card of Buck O'Neil in this lot could very well be the highest grade example of any of cards. It's hard to find examples of his cards at all, and I imagine it will become nearly impossible once he's inducted into the Hall of Fame. This is about as good as it gets for a Buck O'Neil card. Btw, his only other card (1946-47 Almanaque Deportivo) is hand-cut.
