1949-50 Toleteros card of the Dominican Deer, Juan Esteban "Tetelo" Vargas. Graded a 5.5 by SGC. There have been 14 examples of this card graded by SGC, with only one grading higher than this one. Vargas played for the Cuban Stars East and New York Cubans in the Negro Leagues. His playing career lasted nearly three decades in numerous countries. He won the batting title in the 1953 Dominican League at the age of 47. His .471 batting average in 1943 is the highest in the history of the Negro Leagues. One of the fastest players ever to step on a baseball diamond, he should have been elected to the Hall of Fame many years ago.
