1946-47 Campo Alegre #6 of Negro Leaguer Manuel "Cocaina" Garcia. Another tough Cuban issue. Part
of a 50 card set which uses the same images as the 1946-47 Fotos
postcards. There is a huge size variance from card to card with many
irregular cuts as they were likely cut by hand prior to distribution,
but the average size is around 1 1/4" by by 1 1/2". They have blank
backs and are on photographic stock.
Cocaina had a long career in the Negro Leagues, Cuba, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Venezuela. He is in the Hall of Fame in both Cuba and Venezuela. In 1932 in Venezuela, he had what is likely the greatest game in professional baseball history. He pitched a no-hitter, striking out 18, while hitting for the cycle. IN THE SAME GAME! He does not get nearly the recognition he deserves as an all-time baseball great.
