The 1946-47 Campo Alegre set is one of the toughest issues of all Cuban baseball cards produced in the 1940s. There are 50 cards in the set, issued on photographic stock, known for irregular cuts like most Cuban cards. This lot features the key card to the set, #48 HOF Negro Leaguer Martín Dihigo. I can't remember when, if ever, this card has been available for sale or up for auction publicly. An opportunity to get one of the most elusive cards of the greatest baseball player in the history of Cuba, and a player that is in the conversation for the greatest all-around baseball player ever to play. Dihigo was an excellent pitcher in addition to his hitting prowess and ability to play every position on a baseball diamond.
